Prithviraj Sukumaran, a leading superstar and director in Malayalam cinema today, is currently gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film Ampuran, which is awaited by Malayalis worldwide. His wife, Supriya Menon, is equally well-known, much like Raju (Prithviraj) himself.

In a recent interview, Supriya Menon opened up about her personal journey, and the video of her candid conversation is now gaining renewed attention. She emphasized her efforts to carve out her own identity rather than living in someone else’s shadow. Initially recognized as the wife of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Supriya is among the few who refuse to be confined to labels like "star wife" and instead strive to forge her own path. A former journalist, Supriya settled in Kerala after her marriage.

Though hailing from Palakkad, Supriya was born and raised in Mumbai. She worked with international media organizations like the BBC and NDTV before shifting her focus. Recently, remarks she made during an interview with Dhanya Varma have sparked significant interest. Supriya stated: "I earned my position in my profession without any recommendations. It was my own hard work and career. However, as a producer now, I do acknowledge the privileges I have. Today, everyone knows me as the wife of Prithviraj, a self-made actor who blazed his own trail. But I struggle with this label. I’m now trying to make people understand that I am Supriya, my own person."

She added: "I want people to see me as a distinct individual, not just conflate me with Prithviraj. I don’t wish to be known merely as someone’s wife, mother, or daughter. I’m determined to create my own identity. My confidence comes from my father. My parents never caged me; they gave me the courage to grow my own wings and fly."
